Verify gateway credentials¶
Confirm ChargeOn can actually reach your gateway with the credentials you entered, before you trust it with a live payment.
Before you start¶
- A gateway record already saved with its credentials — see connect a payment gateway.
Steps¶
- Open the payment gateway record.
- Click the Verify Credentials quick action.
- Wait for it to finish.
- Check the Last Verify Credential Status field.
What you should see¶
Success, with the verification date filled in on the gateway record.
If it does not work¶
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Failure, and the gateway is NMI | NMI has no way to check credentials at all — this button reports failure every time, by design, and looks identical to a genuine bad-credential error | Take a small live test charge instead. Do not spend time re-checking API keys or the Base URI because of this button |
| The gateway is Linked2Pay and you see an error rather than a plain failure | Linked2Pay does not support credential verification at all | Skip it and confirm the gateway works by taking a test payment instead |
| Genuine failure on any other gateway | Wrong API key, expired credentials, an incorrect Base URI, or the gateway blocking your Salesforce org's IP address | Check each of these in turn against what your gateway provider issued you |
